Christos studied Molecular Biology and Genetics at Democritus University of Thrace in Greece before crossing over to London for an MSc in Reproductive and Developmental Biology at Imperial College London. He then headed even more north to beautiful Stockholm, where he earned his PhD in Medical Science at Karolinska Institutet, investigating how pancreatic β cells regenerate using mainly the zebrafish model. Currently, Christos is coming fresh of a postdoc at Helmholtz Zentrum München at the Institute of Diabetes and Regeneration research, working with large animal models and developing antibody-based tools for pancreatic disease.

As of September 2026, Christos joined Lund University as a WCMM-funded Associate Senior Lecturer to start the Pan(c)gnosis Lab. His research interestes sit at the crossroads of developmental biology, metabolism, and translational medicine, excited by both basic and translational science (as well as avid user of exclamation points in written communication)! Christos is equally passionate about teaching and mentorship. He holds an MA in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from Malmö University and has a particular interest in how we train the next generation of scientists, including how PhD supervision itself can be done better.

When not in the lab, you'll likely find him on a running trail, buried in a good book, or experimenting in the kitchen.
